This is my life story with 100 cartoons of my artwork depicting my adventures as a flutemaker as I traveled Central and South America. It is also a tale of the people I met and the fascinating stories they told.
I will take you from my home in a chicken coop in Guatemala, to a meeting with the President of Fiji, from battling a spirt on top of a Mayan temple in a jungle, to the basement of an Argentine judge where guerrillas hid bomb-making tapes. We will get lost on a live volcano, feed a street gang in Costa Rica, play flute to a poisonous snake and through the eyes of a young doctor walk into an underground guerrilla headquarters in Colombia. All the while becoming aware of a loving presence from beyond the natural realm as I go Bumping Into God.
The proceeds from this book support the Kids of Cascabel who were rescued from a garbage dump in Nicaragua.
My books are all signed, however, if you would like me to dedicate the book to you or someone else, just let me know in the comment box at check out, I will be happy to do that.
Take the plunge and read Bumping in God and get ready for honest, and raw adventure.
Available as an Ebook at Amazon Kindle Store.
What you are saying...
Erik’s search for meaning in life took him to places and situations that few of us can imagine. His authenticity and transparency in his retelling of this journey creates a compelling story in the midst of danger and struggle. It is not difficult to see through his narrative that God was patiently pursuing him, a heart hungry for what only the God of the universe can offer.

Wow, what a great read your book is! It has been a fantastic experience as you take me through the layers of your life. I love the illustrations, however, you don’t even need them because you are so thoroughly descriptive while talking directly to the reader. You are so engaging! I always knew you had a gift for speaking but writing a book is a very difficult and time-consuming thing for anyone to do… however, man… it has truly been a pleasure experiencing all of your adventures right along with you whilst reading this book. A huge congrats and an even bigger THANK YOU. This book brought me clarity, peace and forgiveness.

I am in chapter 5 of Erik's book and can't put it down. I haven't read a book in an awfully long time that made me laugh and cry not even half way through. What an inspiration! Just got my Calypso and am totally hooked. What a fantastic instrument. Thanks Erik for the wonderful story, inspiration, and amazing instruments!

As far as your book goes, I just started reading it today, and it has kept me very interested and is tough to put down! Thank you for all you do with flutemaker ministries and thank you again for providing the world with musical, cinematic (Youtube), and literary entertainment for years to come!

"Bumping Into God" was a splendid adventure! As I accompanied Erik on his intriguing literary escapades, I felt the thrills and chills of rebels and revolutionaries, and found refuge with pastors and peacekeepers. Led by melody, bamboo, and his quest for enlightenment, he blazed a spiritual pathway through the jungles of human experience. A true missionary, his story makes
a terrific read, and I was truly sorry to see it end.

What a wonderful sense of humor you have. I loved your book! What an exciting life. It certainly held my interest from beginning to end. You are quite the adventurous soul and I commend you as a courageous man of your convictions. I laughed and cried with you and feel like I really got to know you. I also enjoyed your imaginative artwork.

I just finished Erik's book and it reopened my eyes. Sometimes we forget or don't see how God is moving around us.
This book is an inspiration and a motivation for ministry.

I'm just now at the "The Night at the Pier" in your book. Less than a hundred pages to go and I really don't want it to end. Sign of a good book, right there. Thank you and God bless.

"Reading Erik's story has been a totally captivating joy for me this past week. I was able to walk in his shoes. His, is a testimony that will transform many lives. I know it has for me. I even bought a copy for my son."

I play your flutes in the morning and evening... and to my surprise, my neighbors are still smiling ;). During my metro journeys back and forth across Prague I enjoy your thick book. Writing is drawing with the mind. As a former magazine editor and Time freelancer, your writing is an inspiration. I enjoy your refreshingly fluid way of storytelling. Thanks! Peace and blessings.

Who knew Erik the flutemaker to be a gifted author as well as an excellent musician! I was totally entertained by his book, "Bumping Into God." His bizarre life experiences and goofy illustrations had me turning pages anxiously wanting to know, "What happened next?" What an amazing life saga! So much more entertaining than watching Ozzie Ozborne on reality TV. Erik's descriptive narratives of all his escapades are told with such a flare that I felt like I was his best friend and that we were passengers seated together on the "bus of life." Even though we all have our own stories, Erik's are truly more entertaining than most. I'm so fortunate to have bumped into Erik and discovered "Bumping Into God."

What an adventure!! I laughed out loud, and cried while taken on a roller coaster ride of adventures - not only those of the flutemaker, but so many stories meticulously recorded of others... So candid and open, refreshing and inspiring! From the wonderfull stories, to the cartoon artwork, this is a journey that I am thrilled to have lived vicariously through the pages of Bumping into God!

I love, love, love, love, love your book... Big potential to do good. It's really and literally wonder-ful!!!
There are no words to express how much I love it, how much I feel blessed.
This is not a book you only read. This is a book to transform people... many tears have run from my cheeks and laughter has enlightened my soul from the moment I opened it!
I wept hot tears with you on your flight to L.A, I feared for you being haunted by the mob. I absolutley adored the the puppy from hell.
Yes, I do want to publish it. It's beautiful and it's motivating.

I have read dozens upon dozens of biographies and continually read biographical stories. Erik's autobiography is one of the best and most entertaining I have ever read.
It will take you on a spiritual journey, traveling through several countries and different continents, following Erik from his early childhood to this present day. You might be tempted to forget at times that what you are reading is not a great fictional adventure, but is actually a true story of one man's road to truth.
You'll have a hard time putting this book down, as one exciting scenario leads to another and yet another. With the book's unpredictability you'll have a hard time knowing what is around the next corner.
I laughed and cried as I went with Erik on his life journey. I thought I knew this man they call Erik the Flute Maker before reading his autobiography, but what I read blew me away. He had never told me how full and exciting, many times dangerous, his life has been.
I cannot recommend this book enough. I hope and pray that everyone who gets the chance to read Bumping Into God does so. I'm sure they won't be disappointed.

I purchased Erik's book on a Sunday morning and I started reading it Sunday evening and I finished it on Thursday morning. I couldn't put it down. It is a wonderful book. I've read hundreds of books and Erik's book is right up there as one of the best. It is very well written and not only tells Erik's story but there are many other testimonies of what God has done in other peoples lives. Amazing and wonderful testimonies of God's miracles. This book made me laugh and it made me cry. I will recommend this book to all my friends
