Tips for the Meditation Whistle:

1. Fingering: A bit of firm pressure with the pads of the fingers over the holes helps to have a good seal which helps have a good sound. This instrument can be considered a 5 hole flute with its root note D (5 fingers down). To unlock this exotic scale, I recommend closing the top 5 holes which is the root note, D. And going from #5 up and back down the scale slowly.  And once in a while using the 6th hole (C#) to accent your playing like the Da-Daaaa after a long concert of past generations.

2. Breath Control: Will also allow you to make the flute sound great. This is a sensitive, gentle blown low whistle. But needs a sharper stronger burst of air on the second octave. If one blows too strong on the first octave, the D note (5 fingers closed) will make it sound turbulent. So a very gentle breath is needed on the meditative quiet first octave.  It plays quietly on first octave and a bit breathy on second. 

3. Clearing the chamber: Every once in a while the head joint needs a strong blow to clear out breath moisture. This will give good sound again. I blow hard into the air splitting area. Just make sure your loved one is not next to you when you do.

4. The last hole has been moved closer by using a 'Chimney' for more comfortable reach for folks with a small and medium hand. One gets used to it after a bit of playing.
