I had the wonderful privilege to visit historical Nehrling Gardens near Orlando Florida and make 33 "Nehrling Flutes" from bamboo originally planted in 1895 by Henry Nehrling. Henry was one of Florida's early pioneer horticulturalists. His tropical garden was so cool that thousands of visitors came to see it; including Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Firestone, President Teddy Roosevelt and David Fairchild the plant explorer.
"Singing Back To Nehrling" contains 17 songs recorded with these historical bamboos.
It was Henry Nehrling and his early horticultural friends in Florida that spread bamboo around the state and allowed me to have a career in flute making.
The Cd was created with bamboo that originally came from southern China and settled in Japan for hundreds of years, called Taiho Chiku. Today, this bamboo is known as Bambusa Multiplex Silver-Stripe.
Henry wrote books about birds and plants and the CD reflects Henry's love for both.
Henry considered his plants his pets. Now you can hear them... Singing Back To Nehrling.
