For years I have been making Arabian flutes and later the Arabian Penny Whistle in Carbon Fiber.
A few people mentioned along the way that this scale is also called the Ahava Raba scale. Which in Hebrew means Great Love. It is now time to release my new Ahava Raba Clarinet. It is concert tuned in A to play with others and to record. Just get the reed moist and the carbon fiber body warmed up. It plays beautifully with reverb and in nice acoustical places.
The Ahava Raba scale was inspired by Arabian, Gypsy and Eastern Jewish soul music later called Klezmer music around 1938. Mixed with culture, history, passion and a jazzy fusion it captures what great clarinetist players have said: Klezmer is the loudspeaker, the inner voice singing in everyone’s soul. A Klezmer player doesn’t make music, he speaks, prays and consoles with his instrument.
Klezmer musicians were inspired by the cultures around them: Rumanian, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Hungarian, Greek, Ottoman (Turkish) or 'Arabic' and Hungarian Gypsy music. You might say a fusion of Eastern European music.
The 17 inch Ahava Raba is one octave and comes with an alto sax mouthpiece, cap, ligature, 1 1/2 tenor reed, bag and an extra reed.
