The story: Since 2012 I have been following leads on how bamboo came to Florida that gave me a career in flute making. In 2016 the search took me to a location in San Francisco at 317 Washington St. where bamboo arrived in 1887 from Japan on a steamer and was sent to Florida by train. I stood in this spot playing and in my heart giving thanks for Henry and Helen Berger of H. H. Berger & Co.
The next day, as I was getting ready to board a plane to fly home, I stopped in front of a big picture of San Francisco which included the spot where the bamboo came from. My wife Linda, took a picture. It was the image of me playing in front of that picture that became the keychain that was gifted to me 2 years later.
On a 2018 trip to Nicaragua, I was handed a bag of of these hand crafted key chains. I am having fun using one. The others were given to raise funds for our work there, feeding 266 children with disabilities, helping with construction projects for them and running a farm and feeding centers. I hope you will get one too.
