The Large Kokin Flute is now all dark.
The Medium Kokin is Natural with Carvings.
The Kokin Flute is a side blown melodic bamboo flute with a Japanese personality.
The Deep Kokin is 19 inches long and the Medium Kokin is just under 14 inches.
A few years ago I was commissioned to build the Kokin Flute. At that time, I was told it captured the score of a portion of a Japanese musical.
The project came out so nice, that I brought it to my customers.
We are ending the beautiful carved series of Mount Fuji and the Sakura Cherry Blossom carved by Linda, the flutemaker's wife.
This bamboo is called Bambusa Multiplex and settled in Japan from southern China and Korea. After centuries in Japan it traveled from the warmer south of Japan to a Yokohama nursery and then to San Francisco, California in the 1880's. It came by train to Florida and settled in the gardens of old pioneer hortirculturalists and then into nurseries that spread the bamboo around the state.
The Kokin Flute comes with a flute bag to protect it.
